A soothing hot beverage spiced with turmeric, ginger and cinnamon--then kissed with the sweet taste of honey. Perfect at bedtime for the most amazing sleep.
2cupsmilk any milk of choice including plant based
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 teaspoonfresh gingergrated or chopped finely
⅛teaspoonblack pepper
⅛teaspooncinnamonor more to taste
1tablespoonraw honeymore or less to taste
Instructions
In a small saucepan combine the milk, turmeric, ginger, black pepper and cinnamon. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, stirring occasionally to ensure the milk doesn't scorch.
Once the mixture boils, reduce the heat. Simmer gently for 3-5 minutes. Remove from heat.
Allow the milk to cool for a few minutes until it is not scorching hot. Add honey and stir well. (Adding the honey when the milk is very hot can destroy its healthful benefits.)
If you would like your milk foamy, use a milk frother and strain into the serving cups. Sprinkle with a little cinnamon, if desired. Enjoy warm before bedtime or any time of day. This can also be chilled if you would like to serve your Golden Milk cold.
Notes
If you don't have fresh ginger, you can substitute 1/2 teaspoon of ginger powder.
