Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¾ cup chocolate chips or chopped nuts optional

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350℉/177℃. Lightly oil the bottom and sides of an 8 x 8 inch baking pan and line with parchment paper. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl combine melted butter and cocoa powder. Mix together with a spatula until smooth and no lumps of cocoa powder remain.
  • Add sugar and mix until well combined. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well between each. Stir in vanilla.
  • Add flour and salt. Mix until all traces of flour disappear. If using chocolate chips or nuts, add them in before the flour is completely incorporated.
  • Spread batter evenly into prepared pan. Bake 20-22 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out with fudgy crumbs. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. Remove and cut into 9 squares.
